Fly & horsefly repellent

Homemade fly repellent recipe

• 90% neutral vegetable oil (linseed, sunflower or liquid paraffin)
• 8 to 10% true cade oil
• Optional: 2% citronella essential oil for enhanced effect

Mix in an opaque spray bottle. Shake before each use. Apply with a brush or spray on neck, back, legs and belly. Avoid eyes and nostrils.

Frequency and efficacy

• Renew after each ride or every 4–6 hours in heavy infestation.
• Cade oil resists sweat better than water-based repellents.
• Complement with cade-soaked cloths hung in stables to amplify the repellent atmosphere.
